Real battle will be in databases : AWS and Oracle
The Article below says "The real battle will be in databases. It's clear that AWS and Oracle are gunning for each other".
But as regards DB technology, Aurora still has nothing like Oracle's active-active RAC clusters where the application can read from *and* write to a multi-instance database transparently, without changes to the app.
Aurora also cannot scale the database automatically. Oracle however has the technology, with its policy managed RAC databases. What happens with Aurora with, for example, sudden "Cyber Monday" demand? Only the web and app servers will be elastic. Not the DB.
